Getting Around, Durban Travel and Durban Transport
(Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, ZA)
Durban is a relatively easy city to negotiate, although its public transport system can seem rather limited. Taxis and rented cars are the most popular way for visitors to travel around the city.
Tourists can also try out the hand-drawn rickshaws, which travel along and around Durban's beachfront, and are one of the city's more unique modes of transport. For distances further afield, Durban is home to a good bus and coach network, along with trains offering connections to most major South African cities.

Durban International Airport is served by a number of domestic and international airlines, including the likes of South African Airways, British Airways and Singapore Airlines. Most international visitors arrive via domestic flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town. The airport is a 20-minute drive from the centre of Durban. Taxi transport is available at the airport and a shuttle bus travels between the airport and the South African Airways terminal, which is located in Durban city centre. Some hotels offer a pick-up and drop-off service to their guests.
In 2010, Durban International Airport will be decommissioned and a new international airport at La Mercy will take its place.
